Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a comprehensive system for the assessment and treatment of acute and chronic disorders, as well as preventative health care and maintenance. TCM consists of acupuncture and herbal medicine. Acupuncture can reduce pain, increase function, and achieve a greater sense of vitality and well-being through the balancing of meridians. An imbalance of meridians can cause a block of the free flow blood and Qi-Vital energy. Acupuncture uses hair-thin surgical steel filaments that can barely be felt. Acupuncture points are stimulated to release pain-killing endorphins, strengthen the immune system, and promote blood circulation. Herbal Medicine is comprised of nearly 6000 substances derived from plant, animal, and mineral sources. Taken in the form of teas, powders, capsules and applied to the body as liniments, herbal formulas are very effective in nourishing, strengthening, and regulating the body. As an essential therapy, herbs are formulated to specially tailor each person’s condition in a holistic, safe, alternative approach to health and well-being.
